Welcome to Tera's Table Page !

We won't bore you, so let's get started with the table photos !

The table base was 1.5 inches of plywood.

The table base is iron to support the great weight. The foundation of the table is built from two 3/4" pieces of plywood that are glued together to create a 1.5" thick piece of plywood. Tom Wade, a great cabinetmaker, helped Tera by routing the wood into a 54" circle. After that, the table is sealed with epoxy so it will be waterproof.

Here's Tera, and Lloyd Harp, working to set the edge pieces. Lloyd is a master tile guy and he REALLY made this project possible. Each piece of natural marble tile was cut and then glued into place. Lloyd did the cutting and tought Tera to do tile spacing. Lloyd, we love you, and your tile cutter!

The design Tera came up with was a swirling sort of thing where the swirls were from broken tiles and the background tiles were aligned and whole. Here, Tera is setting some broken tile pieces.

These are the swirls, filled in by broken tile. Each swirl is a specific color. You can also see the edge pieces sitting on a ledge made from thin plywood and used just to support the edge pieces while the glue dried. The edge pieces are aligned in height by little white spacers.

Tera then glued the background tiles in place. Each piece was carefully spaced, and the color was selected to help the solid color swirls stand out.

She needed a "little" help since each and every piece of tile needed to be cut to fit. Thanks again Lloyd!

After all the tiles are glued down, all that's left is the grout.

And here it is! Great job Tera (and Lloyd)!
